Members connected deeply over the frustrating experience of extreme temperature fluctuations, with the overwhelming consensus being that constant hot and cold flashes, night sweats, and disrupted sleep are common fibromyalgia symptoms distinct from menopause. Several members shared practical coping strategies, including using small bedside fans directed at the face, keeping ice packs on hand for the neck and pulse points, regulating body temperature by keeping one ankle outside the covers, taking oxybutynin to reduce sweating, and staying well-hydrated with water or soy milk. A recurring theme was the recognition that fibromyalgia disrupts the body's internal thermostat, with many members noting that certain medications like Effexor, gabapentin, and antidepressants can worsen the symptoms, though the temperature dysregulation persists even without these medications.

I am right there with you! If i get up moving around the sweat starts pouring and yes at night i am covering up one minute and uncovering the next, i have a fan going all the time! I really have a bad time getting ready when i need to go some where! It actually gets so bad sometimes it looks like my husband is holding a water hose over my head!

I am constantly messing with the covers at night, and my thermostat by day. Hot one minute, cold the next! My ex used to say my thermostat was broken! Which, apparently is not far from the truth! I read something to this effect recently. Fibromites have problems with thermal regulation.

I get hot flushes. I call them heat waves. I get extremely hot for 5 to 15 minutes. Not like menopause but much worse and more uncomfortable.

I keep ice packs on hand, use it on my neck, hands, face. It seems it gets worse if I don't drink my soy milk ....chocolate of course. :)

All the time. I can be hot & cold at the same time... It's the Fibro. Know that's just what you wanted to hear lol... Most of us run a low grade fever on & off & never know it 'cause we feel like $%~£ a good bit of the time. Hugx
