I have noticed especially in the last few years I am getting very forgetful. Sometimes it seems like it's happening way to often that I tell my family, I was going to tell you something but I forgot what it was or I say honey he replies yeah and I'm like dang it I forgot. It doesn't matter how important or unimportant it may be. Is this just me? Should I be alarmed?

Members rallied around someone worried about increasing forgetfulness, confirming that fibro fog is a real and frustrating symptom that affects memory, word retrieval, and concentration, often worsened by certain medications like seizure drugs or antidepressants. Several members shared practical coping strategies that have helped them manage daily life, including writing everything down immediately, using planners or notebooks, keeping sticky notes everywhere, setting phone reminders, and giving themselves grace when words or thoughts slip away. A recurring theme was the relief of knowing they are not alone or losing their minds, with many describing how fibro fog has led them to avoid social situations or feel embarrassed, but finding comfort and validation in a community that truly understands.

Write everything down. No matter how silly it seems at the time. I bought a mommy planner. It has pockets and note pages in the back. I take it everywhere. I also carry a notebook. The kind the kids use at school. It's better for long lists. All so i don't forget. I never used to write things down, but my brain felt to full. Now that is all on paper, I can concentrate on doing things to relieve my pain. I even started laughing again and i can listen to my kids when they are talking.

Fibro Fog- its the worst. I just read an article today which says ---- Cognitive problems, often referred to as ‘Fibro Fog’. Fibromyalgia messes with your brain big time! Let’s see… inability to concentrate, forgetting things, confusion, difficulty learning new things or recalling information. And my personal bug bear- saying the wrong damn thing without even meaning to. This can be saying a random word you don’t mean to say, muddling up the letters in words so that you come out with jargon or putting the start/end of different words together and coming out with nonsense. Fibromyalgia can make the intelligent person feel embarrassed and like a bit of a twat at times!

this helped me realize that I am not a dumb person, and made me curious as to why this happens to Fibro patients so now that I know that I am not the only one, there may be answers as to how to overcome some of these obstacles in the future. I wish you the best!

I am still not sure if I have fibro fog or if it is caused by the meds that I am taking for my heart attack. Whatever the case it is very frustrating and so not feeling like myself. I always had a good memory and a fairly good level of concentration but now.....I feel lost some days. It seems as only the good folks on here understand what I am talking about.
so nice to share and talk to you all.

I agree I have a book I write everything down, I forget everything even in the middle of a conversation I still go blank and totally forget what I'm talking about, it's significant enough I have avoided social gatherings and being in crowds
