I have always had problems since elementary and they just figured out it was Fibro, it can start at any age. It is just more common in adults because of the chronic pain they have had for years and physicians just learning more about Fibro to be able to diagnose it.

I was diagnosed at 18 also but I think mine developed after a head trauma I experienced at 3 years old. Although I don't remember much of those younger years, from what my mom describes of me and the things I would say about pains throughout my body among other things, I think mine developed as a toddler. The problem with trying to get diagnosed with anything related to pain at a young age is that doctors will blame it on growing pains for years and years before it is actually taken seriously. I'm just glad that your son didn't experience that since he is still in his growing years. Anyway, he's definitely not alone in his age but I do see how males could feel few and far between in the fibro world!

I've just turned 23 i think mines being building up for years. It rare for males to have fibromyaglia but i think more Males are getting diagnosed. Also the whole Makes are alphas and are suppose to be stronger than females i think many just don't get diagnosed or ignore it and get on with me.

My advice. Read up as Much as possible. Be there for him. Don't make him feel alone and ask him and talk to him about fibro. And try and get him not to loose who his is and his illness is not him. And depending on how long he's been diagnosed, he will grieve and need time to come to terms with his new normal. Im abit of a hypercrit but im very stubborn and refuse help and hate being a burden on my friend's and family.

Good luck to you and him x

I don't but I have a few friends who do. There are a number of support groups on FB for the younger ones. We have an Under 30's group here in Western Australia. Might be worth searching for one so he can connect with others
