Members connected over the question about H. pylori bacteria and its link to autoimmune diseases, fibromyalgia, and digestive issues, with many sharing their own experiences of being tested for or treated for the bacteria using antibiotic regimens and acid reducers. Several members described overlapping conditions including IBS, acid reflux, leaky gut, hiatal hernias, and stomach ulcers, with practical strategies shared such as daily probiotics, digestive enzymes, Metamucil for IBS management, and following specialized diets like FODMAP or avoiding sugar, gluten, and caffeine. A recurring theme was the importance of getting tested for H. pylori through simple breath tests, working with gastroenterologists, maintaining gut health through fermented foods or quality probiotics, and recognizing that managing fibromyalgia often requires addressing multiple interconnected digestive and autoimmune issues.

I don't know if anyone saw my post on using Medimucil every single day for years now since I was diagnosed with IBS. I rarely have an episode since and it helped really fast too. It is an inexpensive way to control this issue. If anyone gets this please let me know if it helped you as well. Just curious ;) I really hope someone gets it cause I was truly amazed at the difference. I still watch that i dont eat very much spicey things but I can now if Iwant to. As long as it is not crazy spicey and not too often ;) Good luck to all that try this! :)

I think that stress causes abd issues and reflux for many reasons. I've been known to have IBS and i have both a hiatal and umbilical hernia those causes stomach acid to be pushed upward. When I worked as a nurse. The doc I worked for prescribed.. An antibiotic plus acid reducer to combat the H. Pylori. This regime was done for 2 weeks and it fixed the problem. Tho he also instructed the patients to adjust their diet.

There are many reasons for IBS and leaky gut. H pylori is only one reason. I'm forwarding this link from 'WebMD' on H. pylori. I think it covers most of the questions asked here.

I have bad IBS and was checked up and down, from one end of my digestive system to the other, including H pylori testing. It turned out that I am missing some important bacteria but once I started on good probiotics and digestive enzymes, as well as an acid reducer, the IBS settled. I have to continue to take all these pills for probably the rest of my life but they allow me to eat and absorb my food so I accept it begrudgingly.

I checked online as I was tested for it but couldn't remember why. Like that's a surprise! It's the bacteria that causes most stomach ulcers. Many people have it, but it never causes ulcers. I have really bad indigestion and IBS, etc. That I've been tested one end to the other with nothing to show but a really good clean out and IBS. Bummer, and I mean that literally LOL πŸ˜„πŸ˜„

@A MyFibroTeam Member, I have heard of this bacteria as I ended up in the hospital for six days due to my Dr prescribing too strong of an antibiotic which killed off all of the good bacteria in my gut. I have IBS, and have to supplement my diet with probotics. You need to include a Gastro doctor to your team to get his thoughts on how many and which ones you should get. I have read that most if the ones on the shelves if drug stores are not good enough. I'm in the process of getting a new probrotic due to this news.
I have found on FB three sites that have very good info on all the diseases we run into with Fibromyalgia.
Pain News Network
US Pain Foundation
Pain News Report
And if course, CDC.com
