I'm on Cymbalta but I don't see any improvement with my pains. I can see I'm mole calm and have less anxieties or panic attacks. What other medication do you take for pains, prescribed by doctors? What do you think about marijuana?

Members shared a wide range of pain management strategies in response to questions about Cymbalta's effectiveness and marijuana use, with many noting that Cymbalta helped their anxiety and depression but did little for their pain. Several members found relief through combinations of gabapentin and tramadol, while others described success with stronger pain medications like methadone, Norco, and oxycodone, along with non-pharmaceutical approaches including TENS units (Omron), heating pads, hot baths, and muscle relaxers. A recurring theme was the frustration with finding the right medication combination through trial and error, concerns about DEA restrictions on pain medication access, and enthusiastic support for medical marijuana as a sleep aid and pain reliever, with multiple members sharing positive personal experiences with cannabis products despite limited legal access in their areas.

I was on Cymbalta for many years before my diagnosis and it didn't seem to help my Fibro. What I did experience was these awful brains zaps from the cymbalta. I had to get off of it couldn't handle them anymore. I have been put on wellbutrin for depression have no idea if it will touch my Fibro. I have an appt to see my Doctor about Lyrica supposedly that helps nerve pain so we will see. I have had luck with smoking marijuana. I have had good strains of medical marijuana and it helped my pain a great deal. I live way up in Minnesota so it's hard to come across medical marijuana but when I do have it my body thanks me.

I am in the middle of switching from Cymbalta to Pristiq (another SNRI antidepressant) that is supposed to help with FM. I found Cymbalta to work fairly well for the pain (although it took about 3 months to show any benefit), but it did not help with the anxiety/depression that I was having. Cymbalta actually made my anxiety worse! - so am keeping my fingers crossed that Pristiq will lessen the anxiety and still give (some) relief from the FM symptoms. Best of luck to you in finding the right meds for you, too! *Hugs* :)

I have tried Cymbalta and hated it, it didn't work and when I quit taking it, I went through hell!! I have also tried Lyrica and Savella, they didn't work and made me sick. I now take pain meds. I have been taking pain meds for about 9 years and they work beautifully for me. It helps me to live a better quality of life and helps me to be able to function on a daily basis. I take methadone and Norco for break through pain. The problem now a days is that the DEA is making a big deal out of doctors giving pain meds and they are ruining it for people like us who have true chronic pain. It is a fact that people who have ture chronic pain do not get high on pain meds nor are they addicted. It only helps them to live a better quality of life and takes away the pain. I don't know how your doctor is, but you might want to ask him or her about this.

I've started on hemp oil, just 3 days of it, but I slept without waking up. I just pray it continues. Fibro is such an unpredictable desease that I may wake up tomorrow and never work again. I just pray it keeps working. It has even helped with my lower back pain.
