Members responding to a question about burning neck and shoulder pain shared a wide range of relief strategies they use to manage this common fibromyalgia symptom, with heat therapy emerging as the most popular approach through heating pads, microwaveable rice or wheat-filled wraps (like Bed Buddy), hot baths with Epsom salts, and topical heat rubs like A535 or Deep Heat. Several members found relief through combination approaches including alternating heat and ice, TENS units for electrical muscle stimulation, gentle stretching and massage, anti-inflammatory medications, and addressing posture issues with supportive cushions. A recurring theme was the connection between jaw clenching or TMJ and neck tension, with many members describing permanent knots in their shoulders and the challenge of finding what works best for each individual body.

I use a wheat bag, deep heat gel pads, a pain killing cream my doctor gave as well as upping all my normal pain meds and I take Epsom salt baths if I am well enough to be able to safely step in and out of the bath.

Oh yes I have this so much, plus muscle spasms in my upper back. It just kills me.

I have found a moist heating pad or even ice helps.

Found a name for the neck wrap it's Bed Buddy! It really helps and you can put it anywhere on your body for extra heat to help out. I use a heat pad but this is an extra zap that helps and it stays warm for quite awhile before you throw it back in the microwave. I have even wrapped it around my ankles

I do! Every day I suffer in pain in this area. I usually just lay down often to help relieve some of it. Rub A535 extra strength heating rub on my shoulders helps for a bit. My partner rubs them often. I stretch a lot. Stretching hurts a lot but that pain helps dumb down other pain for a bit. I hope all or even one of these help you. Oh ya. Stretching in a hot bath hurts less and relaxes my muscles a lot. I find that my muscles become rock hard all over my body over time and I have to relax them with hot baths, heating rub lotion, like rub A535, message and sleep, i suffer with chronic fatigue syndrome as well so sleep a lot.

Hot and cold alternate..massage...maybe use of a tens machine... I use a tens machine and it really helps me. I have fibro, rheumatoid arthritis..etc and I have been using it for years. It's a good purchase.
