Members offered book recommendations for someone newly researching fibromyalgia, with Fibromyalgia For Dummies and The Idiot's Guide to Fibromyalgia consistently praised as accessible, well-written resources, particularly because the Idiot's Guide author is the founder of the National Fibromyalgia Association and lives with the condition herself. Several members shared their personal experiences with the connection between hypothyroidism and fibromyalgia, noting that thyroid dysfunction may be an underlying cause, and recommended the Stop the Thyroid Madness website for thorough patient education, emphasizing the importance of comprehensive thyroid testing beyond just TSH levels. A recurring theme was the value of community wisdom, the need for caution when choosing sources to avoid predatory misinformation, and the hopeful possibility that treating thyroid issues might improve fibromyalgia symptoms over time with patient dedication.

Thanks for your replies. Good feeling knowing there is support here :-) Dummies and idiots it is then. The question on hypothyroidism, i believe it's possible fibromyalgia can be improved if your thyroid is treated well. To be patiently dedicated will probably serve you well (working progress for me). Check out "Stop the thyroid madness" website. Rich with experienced professional and patient information and a real eye opener

It a dangerous game depending on a TSH test both for us and the doctor. You know you have a good gp when blood tests include anti tpo, Free T3 and T4, TSH, B12, D3, iron etc
