Please bare with me while I try to explain this!

Sometimes while lying in bed at night I feel as though I am dizzy in the way that the room is quickly moving side to side, almost like an earthquake, but inside of my head? Or seasickness? It feels like it affects my vision somehow too, like if I open my eyes while this is happening it feels like my head is shaking left to right in really small increments...

Gosh, this is so difficult to describe! I've never even bothered to try Googling it but… read more

Members rallied around someone describing a disorienting dizziness while lying in bed, with the overwhelming consensus identifying the experience as vertigo, a condition many linked to fibromyalgia, inner ear problems, or medication side effects like Cymbalta and gabapentin. Several members shared practical coping strategies including taking Dramamine or over-the-counter nausea medications, learning personal triggers such as looking up or bending certain ways, and medicating before anticipated high-risk activities like climbing stairs or visiting tall places. A recurring theme was the unpredictable and debilitating nature of vertigo, with members encouraging the person to see their doctor or specialist for proper diagnosis and treatment while reassuring them that occasional episodes are common and manageable with the right support.

vertigo does happen every so often. I have learned what i can and cannot do with it. no looking down from high places, no ladders, cant bend over a certain way, no looking up to the top shelf too long. when mine hits its like someone literally pushing me over, there is no focus whatsoever. I cant lie on back and let my head go below my shoulders. its terrible. it is the worst thing i have , including the fibro. oh and lets not forget the migraine that goes with it, doesnt cause it , just goes with it.

there is nothing to describe it. I have positional vertigo. its terrible. its the one thing I have that will stop me from doing anything. mine occurs when i bend my head back or too far to the right, high altitudes. I take dramamine and lie in the center of my queen size bed and stay there til lit subsides

I also have this strange dizzy feeling, it happens any time of the day, laying down, standing, sitting, eyes shut or open, even happens if I turn over in bed. Hate the feeling. Have been to doctors about it 5 months ago and he said it was iner ear infection. Gave me antibiotics but didn't stop the dizziness. I think it's the fibro.

I'm experiencing these types of symptoms too....very hard to explain...I feel like it's inside my head too. I'm seeing a cardiologist tomorrow and an ENT on Monday to try and figure out this crazy stuff.
