Have pain when I open my mouth too wide or when I'm eating certain foods. My dentist told me that I probably clench my teeth when I'm sleeiping or when I'm stressed. He has recommended I see a physiotherapist who specializes in this type of problem. I'm a bit weary. Do not want to end up with more pain due to my fibro.
Same for me! Apparently, I have essentially no enamel left on the tops of my teeth from grinding which leads to even more sensitivity. Several years ago my dentist recommended I get a mouth guard but I still had braces at the time and to this day still use a retainer because my teeth won't stop moving around. So I'm at a bit of a loss.
Hi Raymonde! My name is Jula. TMJ pain affects almost 30% of our patients (some with Fibromyalgia as well) here at GSH Medical Division for Chronic Pain. Yes, it is mostly caused by stress and clenching. Physiotherapy had been helpful with majority of our patients. I can recommend you a Physiotherapist in East Liberty Village area who specializes in this kind of treatment. I hope that helps!
Yes, I have the same issue. Haven't been dx with it but pretty sure it's TMJ. :( God bless et gentle hugs your way.
Look at "TMJ" it sounds like that..
Yep, I have this too. And I've always been a teeth grinder (I think it's called bruxism or something like that). They can take a mold of your teeth and make a mouth guard for you to wear at night to prevent the grinding down on your teeth and that might help. My jaw always locks, and clicks and hurts when I open my mouth to wide too. No fun. Try doing some jaw exercises... (google some and maybe if you do them it will help).
