There is a newer and much better drug than Gabapentin, it's called Pregabalin. The maximum you can take in a day is 650mgs, it's also brilliant for any anxiety issues too.
At night I'm on morphine, trazadone, clonazepan, ibroprophine, anti depressants and ibroprophine gel on the areas which help the most.
If you are having a period of flair up, no caffeine or fizzy drinks or alcohol, specially after 6pm.
Have a soak in a hot bath. Pop in a few drops of Lavender and camermal (sorry can't spell it) and geranium aroma therapy oils as that will relax, sooth, calm and balance your mood.
Don't use any electronic gadgets, or computers gone 6pm as the ligh used acts as a stimulant and is known to keep you awake.
Go to bed at a reasonable time. If you cannot get to sleep due to pain, listen to some very calming mediation music, or my favourite is an audio book. I belong to Audible which is part of Amazon and I have an amazing collection of unfinished books as I fall asleep!!! Listening to a book in the middle of the night plus some additional pain relief takes away the anxiety of the pain and helps soothes going back to sleep.
Best of luck

Melatonin. It's over the counter. 1 mg helps me or one Tylenol pm. Now my arthritis dr has me on clonapin and xanaflex for night time. It has been the best combination so far.

My rheumatologist who is now retire gave me a tip back in 2012 and I absolutely will use this forever. About two hours before I normally go to sleep intake 1mg of Klonopin and two of my 5mg flexiril. This make me tired and sleep through the night and relaxes my body so I hit the restorative REM sleep.

I also take Tumeric and Cucurmin pain.

Sleepy time teas and Dr. Teals bath salts and lotions along with the body wash helps naturally calm the nerves down and tires you out so you can sleep. They're found online or at stores like Walmart.com
