So during flare up my hair hurts to touch. Today however I not only have sensitive hair I have lumps all over my scalp that are extremely sore! I have not used any different products so can't be that. Does anyone else experience this? X

Members connected over the painful experience of lumpy, tender scalps during fibromyalgia flare-ups, with many describing bumps, blisters filled with clear liquid, burning sensations, and extreme sensitivity that makes even washing or brushing hair unbearable. Several members found relief through coconut oil applications, switching to natural or fragrance-free shampoos without sulfates or parabens, and using coal tar shampoos like T-Gel, while others noted that stress and certain foods can trigger flare-ups. A recurring theme was the frustration of doctors dismissing or misdiagnosing these symptoms and the profound relief of finally connecting with others who truly understand this painful and isolating experience.

@A MyFibroTeam Member Sarah, I have switched to natural shampoos and that helps a lot. Look for no SLS, no parables, no chemical preservatives etc. 100%Pure brand makes some great ones. They are expensive, but are very concentrated and last a long time. There are several good ones that I have tried. An inexpensive brand that is good is Avalon. I have always had very oily skin and scalp and even though I am nearly 65, I still have to wash at least every other day or risk major scalp break outs.I have had good results using clay masks on my scalp too. My favorite is red clay. I also mix several different kinds of clay with turmeric and charcoal for a super mask. I like to put it on my face and then use a watered down version on my scalp. Then I soak in a salt bath for my body. A great at home spa treatment. ๐Ÿ˜ƒ

Soak your head/hair in Coconut oil. I get lumps also, doctors say it's psoriasis. My in laws from Mexico says its from stress. The Coconut oil is amazing!!

Like JV said...tiny blistery pimple like bumps. Not itchy but irritating (something dermatologist couldn't understand and replaced my word of irritating to itching...but not itchy). Have to scratch for relief and liquid comes out. Then they burn like they are on fire. Dermatologist said fungus and gave me script for liquid that is mostly alcohol. Had problem for decades. Flares up when I'm stressed or a new medication. Never seems to go away. I switched to a scalp mint shampoo years ago and cannot use any conditioner or other hair products. Cut hair short to see if it would help but didn't. Glad hair covers it but people still see me attack these little things.

I have never had sores but I get severe migraine on top of the fibromyalgia. My scalp is very sensitive, it hurts to wash, comb or do anything to my hair. I often feel as though my hair is to heavy and I need to cut it. I have to keep it in a loose pony tail at all times and forget dye, it burns and the migraine it causes last for 3 or 4 days.
