I have seen post all over the web about fibro. I have been in severe pain for over a year. I had to stop working. I can barely walk and I can't do simple things by myself such as brushing my hair or shower. I try to do some low grade exercises but can't do it longer than 5 minutes. I give out. I can't walk 50-70 feet without having to rest. I do use a cane and soon will be a walker. My question is how does anyone work hurting like this.

I'm not sure if others have said this but I'm just gonna say it. Doctors form a Medical Practice. That key word is "practice" they are constantly practicing and learning and solving. Never give up on asking for a second opinion or do research on your own test results. I have days we people have no idea I am sick. I have days where I walk like I should be in bed. I was told at the beginning of this crazy thing called Fibro Inwould never work again! I was lucky and met an amazing Chripractor that explained how every medication the doctors give you has a different and sometimes worse side effect. I did chiropractic treatments for three years with him and totally believe he save my life. Maybe not just from adjustments but from reminding me constantly to keep moving and to stay away from too many medications.
I also notice that once a doctor (not all) finds out you have Fibro they dont research other things. Everything is blamed on Fibro, trust your heart and know this is not right and try another doctor.
I was in bed for about 3 years. My mom helped me bathe, dress, and pushed me in a wheelchair to doctor visits. She also made sure I ate every day. You should have been on disability a long time ago. Second only to God, your health should be priority one. I had my first symptoms of Fibromyalgia and Bipolar Disorder at age 12. I have tried everything I ever heard of. It has been many long miserable years. I am better now than I have been in years because I found a doctor that knows my problems are real. I have been seeing him and more importantly he Has Been SEEING Me for 10 years. We have tried many different prescriptions and supplements. One thing that helped me was to focus on one problem at a time. I had a bladder infection and went to a urologist who found that I have an enlarged bladder and he treated that. I had chronic constipation since I was a child. I went to the digestive disorder group and was diagnosed with IBS-C and later acid reflux. The doctor kept telling me to take fiber which made it worse so I started looking at laxatives and noticed that the ones doctors recommend were high in Magnesium. Now I take Magnesium supplements and have bowel movements almost daily. Haven't been this regular for decades. In all I have been to over 80 doctors. Today much more is known about Fibromyalgia yet some doctors had rather tell you it's in your head than admit their own ignorance. Please consider what I have said because it is learned by experience and sent with the best intentions and love. God bless you.
Like you im in severe pain every day, (back, legs, arms, ribs and everything in between), i havent been able to work for about 5 years, cant go anywhere without my walker or even go out by myself, i need a carer as i cant do even the small things, sometimes i cant even make a cup of tea, i always use to wonder how people still managed to function, but i now realize there are different levels of fibro pain, I have other illnesses as well which as a result i cant have children, when i first found that out i was gutted, however now im thinking it was a blessing in disguise, because on bad days i find it very painful just to get out of bed to use the loo, and even on good days i still cant walk on my own and im still in too much pain to function properly. and then there are people who have days, weeks and sometimes even months without pain, there are so many variations with fibro i dont think anyone can truely 100% understand it all.
I agree with everyone and yes unfortunately for some reason mine has gotten worse and is now getting difficult for me to walk and I am only able to work about 5 hours a week. The depression is now very clinical and I am trying to keep my head above water. So what I have found is that FM requires a menu of care and should not be based alone on medications. I sometimes find myself focusing on what medication I should try next that I can tolerate and that might help reduce the pain. Balance - love yourself and take care of yourself. Find a specialist with FM if you can.
Hi RcTolly, All these ladies r right. We all have different sites of problems, diagnosis [ one to many] levels of pain, different levels of pain tolerates and all ages. I see many of us have had to quit working d/t unable to do our jobs d/t pain. Boy there are so many of us suffering. Some have doctors who understand others can't find doctors to help them. Primary doctors send us to rheumatologist [who normally can and will help], neurologist who diagnosis us can help some, the pain clinics who do inject cortisone, block nerves, ablation of nerves with no to good results then they can try a trial of a spinal cord stimulator which works for most. I 'm waiting for implantation on Feb 3rd because it really worked for me can't wait. Please read up in this procedure to see if it might work for u. Talk to a pain clinic for help !!!!!! God bless u all. Big soft hugs !!!!
