Has anyone experienced rapid weight gain when talking Gabapentin?
Been on it for 3 months and gained approximately three stone. It's working for my fibro but my weight gain is getting me down :(

Members overwhelmingly confirmed experiencing rapid and significant weight gain on Gabapentin, with reports ranging from 8 to 60 pounds over periods as short as weeks to months, leading many to stop the medication despite its effectiveness for fibromyalgia, restless leg syndrome, or nerve pain. Several members shared frustration about the emotional toll of weight gain adding to their depression, the difficulty of losing the weight afterward, and similar experiences with Lyrica, Gabapentin's sister drug. A recurring theme was the challenging balance between managing chronic pain and dealing with distressing side effects, with some members choosing to discontinue the medication entirely rather than continue gaining weight.

Yes! I gained close to 60 lbs after taking it for 6 months. Ask your doctor to try something less weight gaining. I also had really bad reaction to Lyrica (throat swelled up so much I couldn't breathe). I am on Metadol now and it helps. Unfortunately, most meds we take have the weight gain side affects.

I have gained 10 lbs. since starting Gabapentin a little over a year ago. However, I am also going through menopause, which could possibly be connected to the weight gain.

Do you think it's part of Fibromyalgia ? Everyone on this site seems to gain weight.
I'm swimming everyday. I run in place for an hour. My arms are constantly moving as well.
I've never been overweight. I'm really scard. My doc keeps saying "lose weight".They do not know what is going on. They sit there so erragent pretending to know something about Fibroalgia.
I'm done no more doctors!!!'

I was on Lyrica, which is the sister of Gabapentin, and yes weight gain as well as water retention. Had to get off it as too many side effects.
