My primary care group isn't helpful with fibromyalgia. Used to see a rheumatologist, Dr Sinclair , until she prescribed something that I had horrible side effects from so she sent me to primary to fix. I'm open to any type of doc that can help.
had it not been for the nurse practitioner in my PCP office I still would have no idea what was wrong with me. My rheumatologist was a complete asshole and kept telling me the disease wouldn't kill me to deal with it. Every doc wanted me to go on the same few drugs. Lyrica, cymbalta, sevella, neroutin. I tried the Lyrica made me feel suicidal. Neurotin made me shake violently for 8-10 hours and I refused the others. due to possible side effects seeing I had had bad ones on the rest. I take Wellbutrin xl , xanax, flexril those get me thru the day for heavy pain I take hydrocodone but thats rare. Ibuprofen-tylenol and my drug of choice most days. and my trigger point shots once a month.
Besides my primary doctor I see a rheumatoid arthritis doctor and I go to a pain clinic.
I use Cymbalta without side effects, Gralise, flexril and oxycodone. This combination works for me.
Sometimes I think primary care is just as good a good nurse practitioner listens and takes you serious.
