I agree the typical pain scale doesn't fit for fibro.
There is an android app called fibromap...if u are up to keeping track that way
When they ask me to describe the pain aching, burning, etc etc. I tell them in the last 24 hrs. "all the above". They give me that look, one of the doctors at the VA said to me "I have a very rigid criteria for diagnosing Fibro" my response went something like this, I do not care what your criteria is being that is rigid and all and care even less what you want to call it, I had bought along a sheet with an outline of the human body front and rear. I had taken color pencils and shaded in areas that I was experiencing pain and color coded level of pain, I believe at that time my pain ranged between 6-10. I told him I was in trouble physically and mentally and if he wasn't going to help me I would find someone that would. He sent me to a rheumatologist and I was diagnosed. The pain scale is all we have, if its an 11 tell them, and show them your log. We have got to be our own advocate. If they blow you off, tell them that's how you feel and search out someone that will listen!!!!! As babysnroses said Fibro itreatment is so much more than just pain treatment.
I say an 11 or off the charts!!..:-)
