Members overwhelmingly confirmed that light sensitivity is a common and often debilitating part of fibromyalgia, with many describing how bright light triggers migraines, eye pain, and fatigue. Several members shared practical solutions they rely on, including transition lenses that darken automatically, prescription red-tinted glasses, and using eye drops for accompanying dry eye symptoms, though many noted that even these tools are not always enough to manage the intensity of their sensitivity. A recurring theme was the broader hypersensitivity that accompanies fibromyalgia, affecting not just light but also noise and smell, alongside the emotional toll of feeling judged or misunderstood when using visible aids like tinted glasses.

I suffer with the lights and have reactive lenses which automatically go dark

I wear reactions, lenses that go dark as the light outside goes brighter. Bright light is so painful in my eyes. Loud noise hurts my eyes. Strong smells either make me sneeze or gag. I am so hypersensitive. I think a lot of us are. My body doesn't tolerate certain foods or medication. HTP5 was recommended to help me sleep. It made me high as a kite and had the opposite effect on me. I use Hypermellose eye drops for dry eyes. I have dry eyes and dry mouth. xxx

Thanks everyone for all your responses. I have to wear glasses with red lenses in them. It's horrible. I've had them for nearly 3 years now. I hate them and my confidence is at ground zero. Imagine starting a new job and have everyone judge you because of something you have to wear on your face to see properly. Never mind getting to know me, people are quick to judge and avoid. Soul destroying.
