I will tell you, while out west visiting my son, driving through Colorado, I did try pot for pain management. It does help. Here's a little "funny" for you. I was 41 before I ever smoked pot. I drank all through high school and beyond but never ventured into anything else. But one evening my husband came home to find me in the fetal position on our bed in tears. I hurt so badly and had already taken my Vicodin and Soma...taking much more of anything would have not been smart. He looked at me and said I'll be right back. (I was angry at the time because even though he couldn't help me, how dare he leave me when I felt like that?!!) Anyway he came back with some weed and even made a pipe for me (out of auto part fittings) because he knew I had never even smoke a cigarette. At first I was like "no, I can't do that...it's an illegal drug!!" He finally convinced me and and after a few inhalations (sounds better than hits LOL) I stood up and look at him and said, "OH MY GOD, I am completely pain free!!" As most of you have experienced, with fibro, many of us are NEVER completely pain free, even medicated!! I was like (excuse the language) "this is the SHIT!" So now, I smoke weed when it gets bad. I don't smoke it often as I stereotypically get the munchies and I'm working hard at controlling my weight! But when I get really stressed out and can feel my anxiety getting ready to peak or when I hurt more than any meds I have can touch...yep I smoke a bowl. I'm hopeful that it will be legal in all states at some point. And as a little aside...I found it interesting that the prices were the same in Colorado for medicinal grade weed as they are where I live for what is know as "shake" (all the pieces left over, crappy stuff.) I am NOT a proponent of using illegal drugs, we all know heroin is the best pain killer around (as told to me by my surgeon dad) but it's addictive qualities are too great. Anyway, that was a babbling way of saying I totally agree and understand using weed as a pain reliever, anxiety reliever. Heck my sister-in-law that lives in CO has a script from a doctor for it for depression, and studies show it can reduce the likelihood of seizures.

Hi Janet Lyrica helps with pain and wellbutrin for anxiety and depression. You have to be your own advocate and research, ask others that's why this is such a great place to come! Is your doctor open to suggestions that you may want to try?
