I was a pharmacy tech for 17 yrs at a very busy pharmacy .. I was wide open all day long .. I was tired and wore out at the end of the day but 3 years ago I started working at a desk job in the office all day by myself ... So no exercise what so ever and it seems every year my fibro and chronic fatiuge gets worse :( Has anyone tried joining the gym ? I just wonder if I workout will it get better ? I don't won't it to get worse ! Just trying to see if y'all had any relief
Depends, I think, how much you exert yourself. For 2+ yrs my fibro was mild and controlled by once a day 60mg Cymbalta. Then I joined Fit Body Boot Camp. I loved it for the 5 sessions I went to. It was hard work, but i went at it with gusto! Then I crumbled into a lump of fibromyalgia symptoms. (I had been walking 5 mi most days before this, now if I manage 2-3 very slow miles on the weekend when I don't work, I consider it a success.)
Walking is a great form of quiet exercise. Just saying, be gentle. You do not want to wake the beast
Swimming is the Best... especially if the gym has a therapy pool that is really warm.
I try to go to the gym every night after work for an hour. I think it helps. It releases endorphins supposedly. I walk 45 minutes the first night and the second night I do weights and walk 15 minutes. Give it a try!😊
I've read over and over again and also been told by my Dr. that the best exercise for Fibro is walking. I was instructed to start with 5 minutes per day and add 1 minute everyday from there. It is also good to break it up into a few sessions per day once you do longer stretches ie. 2 or 3 10 minute sessions per day. If you live in a warmer climate a gym pass isn't necessary. I live in Canada and I have a treadmill that I intend to start using again after the holidays. For now I'm getting enough walking in by Christmas shopping. My local pool has water aerobics classes specifically for Fibro which I went to a few times and found the exercises a lot easier in the water than on land. It's all the changing involved especially in the Winter that I found too much.
