These are my constant tender points.. when flared right side of neck as well and causes a tension headache that can feel close to a migraine in scale. I try a mix of heat and cold therapy and anti-inflammatory tablets. Any thing you can to relax the muscles. look at your posture as well. My trigger is poor posture. I am "round shouldered." so gentle neck stretches help, and pulling back the shoulders into correct position. I need to build up core strength as can not seem to get "muscle memory" to correct posture. youtube is a great source for stretches that help. ballet/whiplash exercises are good. I personally find these helpful.: "Neck & Shoulder Pain Relief Exercises & Yoga Stretches Jen Hilman " .. she does tend to natter a bit, but the exercises/stretches are miracle workers.

I have pain and tenderness in the shoulder also. Mostly during the night and first thing in the morning also. Sometimes throughout the day, when I'm getting tired or after a nap.
