I've always had allergies to environmental things and they tend to get worse as we get older too. I've also become a lot more sensitive to chemical smells as well. I get headaches pretty quickly from them now. I developed allergies to 3 different classes of antibiotics over a decade ago and that's caused me to be more sensitive to different types of medications now. As with any type of auto immune condition, our bodies are turning on themselves so what used to be OK for it, no longer is. I put myself on a Gluten free diet a few weeks ago to see if it would help my stomach feel better and it has! I've also lost around 15lbs too. Yay! I may have Celiac Disease, I don't know. But over the course of about 12 months, my stomach got worse and worse whenever I ate and it would often wake me up at night. Anyway, our bodies change as we get older and now with an auto immune condition on board too, many things are happening to it at all once. We need to be diligent and pay attention to it so that we can take care of ourselves. Being allergic to medications is scary business! I've had bad reactions a few times myself. My mom has too. No fun! I recommend wearing a medical alert bracelet or necklace.
I have turned to a gluten free diet. I also have to limit dairy products and cut down fat. I can't eat beef at all.. although I do still try and instantly regret it. (I am stubborn lol) Also, increase water intake. it does help. And make sure you are getting enough fibre in your diet. This is what I was lacking in mine. :)
I don't foods but find I have reactions to so many medications now !
I cant take any antidepressants, which, sadly, is the only thing available to treat fibro besides pain meds on a medication level... I cant say im sensitive to pain meds bc they dont do much for me. i am prescribed tramadol, flexeril, and norco but i only take them when i absolutely need them bc of the addiction factor(something i dont want to have to deal with)... yet when i do take them it doesnt help much if at all.. maybe my body has just grown use to them or something. I will say that while i dont have any allergies to meds, I have gotten sensitive to capsazin which mean nothing spicy for me ever(no spicy peppers), and cant use pain relievers that have it( aka icyhot, etc...) and i have been developing other types of allergies such as latex, hair dye, cats and possibly now my dogs, plus seasonals are getting worse. Needless to say I pop a zyrtek in the morning and another in the evening. Hope this helps!
Hi, I have a sensitivity to medications but not foods from the fibromyalgia. I had gastric bypass a few years ago and my stomach is sensitive to certain foods because of that. The meds are very frustrating, all the new drugs that are working for some people I get awful reactions. I also can't take strong pain meds. I do take tramadol for the pain and a half of the lowest dose of Vicodin. The Vicodin I can't take regularly because it makes me real grumpy if I take it to many days in a row. The tramadol does help a little at times. The weather affects me a lot.
