Members opened up about the confusing overlap between fibromyalgia and lupus diagnoses, with many describing being diagnosed with one condition first and then the other, or having a lupus diagnosis reversed years later. Several members shared symptoms common to both conditions, including debilitating fatigue (often sleeping 12 to 14 hours a day), widespread pain, brain fog, stomach issues like bloating and constipation, skin problems, and heart complications, with medications like Cymbalta, tramadol, and Plaquenil offering varying degrees of relief. A recurring theme was the tension between accepting diagnoses and treatment recommendations versus concerns about medication side effects and uncertainty about whether they truly have lupus, with some members choosing to delay or refuse treatment while others found that Plaquenil helped reduce symptoms significantly.

I was diagnosed with lupus in 2005 but did not beleive the doctors. After 5 doctors and a visit to U of M to make sure that's what I had. All tests showed that I did but I lived in denial (I refused to take plaqunil) until 2013 when I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia. Now I take Cymbalta 60mg a day and tramadol for pain. Neither one really do anything for pain but the Cymbalta helps a lot with my anxiety. Every day I wake up it feels like a terrible hangover, head pounding, heart pounding fast, tired but my body feels like it had too much caffeine. Sometimes I can push myself to get up to do errands, clean house, etc. but most days I only make it to the couch where I sleep on and off and watch TV. That's after I've had 12 to 14 hours of sleep. I know others say they can't sleep...that's all I do is sleep. I also have stomach problems, nauseated, bloating, gassy, constipated. I also have brain for all the time....that would explain all my edits and it's still wrong. Other than that I feel ducky

I guess I'm taking a chance with the lupus damaging my organs but it's been since 2005 and so far so good. My sister in law also has lupus and she is on a lot of medication, a few years ago she had a heart attack at the age of 55. She never had any heart issues and no heart disease in the family....her cardiologist thinks it was from all the meds🤔 I can't believe how many people were diagnosed with lupus but years later they were told later it wasn't that. I don't know if doctors get a kickback from the pharmaceutical companies or not....but I really think they do the way they push drugs. A great documary to watch is Prescription Thugs. I know one day I will probably have to take something daily....but as of for now I refuse, especially after my Cymbalta nightmare 😢
