Hi,
I was just walking from one room to the next (no carpet in either) and my legs gave out on me and i fell. I fell hard straight forward...so hard the my jeans made a blue streak where my knee slid. I think I'm ok, but this has never happened before. I have weakness, but never to the point of falling and kissing the kitchen floor. :)
Advice? Any experience with this? Thanks...

Members deeply related to the experience of falling due to fibromyalgia, with many describing sudden leg weakness, loss of balance, and repeated falls that have resulted in injuries ranging from bruising to broken bones. Several members shared mobility aids that have helped them maintain independence and safety, including canes for balance on high-pain days, walkers for additional support, and power chairs for longer distances, with some facing frustrating skepticism from doctors before receiving the equipment they needed. A recurring theme was the emotional toll of navigating this unpredictable symptom, the fear of falling and slow healing, and the importance of advocating for oneself while staying as active and positive as possible despite the challenges.

I am so sorry they give you such a hard time. You should do what is best for you though...just saying. My family urged me to get a cane and to use it always. Maybe because my dad uses one and would not be walking at all without it. Anyway Don't listen to that pity party and prove them all wrong. Hugs

I have fallen too. Or almost, many times, with one or both legs giving out. I also have peripheral neuropathy, which adds to this. I also drop things a lot.

I have periods of time where it's as if my feet esp the left one just doesn't pick itself up when I walk. I stumble a lot and have fallen quite a few times. I feel like an old woman when I walk because I'm terrified of falling and breaking something. Healing just seems to be slower when we do hurt ourselves.

I have fallen many times, never broke anything, but had a lot of brusing. The first time was in 96, I fell while crossing a busy street, which was scary, I had never fallen before. I told my Doctor, who gave me a cane, which did not help. I still fell, I could just be walking along, and my legs would give out from under me, and down I went! I told my Doctor I needed a walker, so I could have more support, he asked me if anyone had "seen me fall?" as if I WAS LYING! He must not have liked the look I gave him because I got a walker. l STILL had problems falling, so about six months later, I got a power chair, which has been a life saver. Now I am not afraid to go long distances away from home. I used my first one so much, I wore out two sets of tires both batteries had to be replaced, a new battery charger and when I took the chair in to get a third set of tires, they were so tired of working on it, they decided to give me a new chair, a much better chair with bigger tires that will hold up much better than the old one.

I have fallen a few times. That's why I finally got my diagnosis of fibromyalgia.
