Body Temperature Regulation Issues
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Does anyone else have problems keeping their body at a comfortable state? All day long I sweat bullets and then freeze and this happens over and over all day every 5 minutes literally my body temperature changes. It makes me feel very ill and at night now it's just puddles of sweat...

Does anyone have this problem and if so what can I do to make it better?

Yes, I have exactly the same problem with temp regulation, I'm always saying my body's thermostat is broken. Before fibro I used to always be hot, but now am freezing/hot/freezing. And I don't sleep at night either, toss and turn, so I just stay up and then finally sleep in the morning/early afternoon. Terrible night sweats, so I keep my bedroom freezing cold. For years I've worried myself to death about not sleeping, but I finally gave up and accepted it, which takes a lot of stress off of me and I feel better for not beating myself up over sleep. My family finally understands that I sleep during the day and not to wake me! As for what to do about it, heating pads are my best friend, fans are my best friend, and always take an extra coat/blanket wherever I go, no matter how hot it is!

I have this exact issue! I also have trouble knowing exactly how hot i make my water when showering or doing dishes. When showering i cant seem to get it hot enough and then im so drained afterwards. Once, For a few days I couldn't understand why my hands were burning, red and itchy especially under water well i stuck my elbow under the water and it was scorching hot so i was literally burning my skin without knowing so.. Fibro does compromise your bodies temperature regulation, effecting the nerves that send hot and cold signals to your brain/body possibly sending you ito hypothermia.. it's been a while since I researched it so i can't say exactly but I also remember fibro and its many sent "signals" have to do with something in the palms of our hands

I attempt to sleep at night but it's never a deep sleep. I only fall into a deep sleep if I take a nap during the day. But if my temp keeps changing its hard to sleep at all.
I'm glad I'm not alone but I am sorry that we all have to deal with this..

HUGS!!!

I find my hands are the worst. Ache when they are cold and throb when they are hot. Constantly changing. I am normally a cold person but lately its been all over the place. Bf jokes that its early menopause. I haven't had a good night sleep for so long, can't remember the last good sleep even with melatonin or sleeping pills. Can't stay in the same position too long. Body hurts too much, then hurts to move. Never ends

I do the same thing!!! I get my showers super hot because it helps with joint pain but then it drains me... after about 5 min I feel like I need to lay down.
I've been up since 4 itching and sweating and freezing... ugh
