Members overwhelmingly confirmed that fibromyalgia significantly increases pain sensitivity, with everyday bumps and minor injuries causing disproportionately intense and longer-lasting pain than before their diagnosis. Several members shared that they now bruise much more easily and take far longer to heal from even small injuries like bumping into furniture, dog scratches, or blood draws, with some bruises persisting for weeks or months. A recurring theme was the validation and relief members felt in realizing they were not being overly dramatic, as their nervous systems are genuinely in a heightened state that amplifies all pain signals beyond what most people experience.

I'm very sensitive to pain. If I knock myself on something it's excruciating. And I bruise very easily than I did before.

I believe it is a proven fact that our nerves are in a heightened state and we definitely are more sensitive to pain.

Same thing here...I have always bruised easily and that was probably an early sign of fibro before I even knew what it was. Now when I run into the corner of a table or hit my toe it hurts twice as bad as I think it should.

Yes I noticed this recently, I am quite or was quite a tough lady but now the slightest knock hurts do much. :-(
