I'm wondering if others get anxious when having a temporary flare in symptoms. I get really anxious about the situation which makes it worse. I start worrying I'll stay in the flare forever, or I see the chores around the house backing up, or worry how the heck can I go back to work like this? I find it difficult to relax and have a day doing nothing.

I have struggled with this too. There is one very important thing you need to try and keep in mind, you have a chronic illness. You did not choose this! You are not being lazy! The pain is real. The fatigue is real. This disease is real. It is hard to see things going all to hell because you are in a flare. Just remember, it will pass. It's called a flare because it comes and then eventually goes. And when it does, all the things you need to do will still be there. So when you can, do! When you can't, don't! Don't beat yourself up for being in pain. Don't feel like a bum for laying down. You are not being lazy ladies! You are healing, and that is ok. Give yourself a break. Tomorrow is new day. Often by berating ourselves we can worsen and lengthen the flare up. I've learned this the hard way, but I promise you that giving yourself a little grace now and then is a good thing. Keep up the good fight and have a blessed day!
I'm never pain free either. I don't know how to use the pain scale because I've experienced two childbirths without any medication so that is a 10 to me. My Fibro pain is nowhere near that as if I had to feel like that every minute of every day I would not be here!
Anxiety and stress are a big part of fibro. They both make our symptoms much worse. Its a vicious cycle. We hurt, so we stress, so we hurt even more...etc. Make sure you speak to your doctor about it. Sometimes a low dose antidepressant can help with the anxiety. Relaxation techniques and meditation also help.
Yes I do because of past experiences I get anxious just thinking about going out for fear I will be sick for a week after and not be able to do the things I really want to do. Before I go out I weigh the pro and cons to make sure it's worth feeling like crap.
