Hi.
I was wondering if i'm the only one here chocking with about anything ... my own saliva, a sip of water, in my sleep.
I scared myself yesterday and today.
I always had difficulties to swallow if my head is bent backward. It's like I don't have enough place in my throat and it is noisy.
Is it another fibro thing?
Wow.. It's amazing the things you may have that you don't even realize other people with Fibro have too. Choking on my own spit, any kind of liquid is frequent.
I also have a problem swallowing. It can be pills or water.I also sometimes choke on my on saliva which is gross, all do to fibro.
I went to an ENT specialist and found out some of my problem is the cartilage is collapsing in my nose so, I can't get air in through my nose while eating. So, on instinct, I try and breath through my mouth and it's causing me to choke on my food.
Choking has become a real problem for me. Since diagnosed with Fibromyalgia I've gained weight and have been diagnosed with sleep apnea. I don't know if this has brought the choking on or not. But with Fibromyalgia my body continues to evolve with tics; finger miscues when typing; stride changes in my walk and so much more. Choking has become a more serious side affect so I try to be more alert to how I eat and drink, how I talk and breathe and anything else that brings it on. Haven't found anything to really help besides ricola cough drops.
@A MyFibroTeam Member Same thing here. When chewing a grape, if the juice goes in my throat, I'll start to cough.
My thyroid is ok. I've been checked several times.
I even tried to look at my tonsils to see if I don't have one of these nasty tonsil stones.
