Clinical Trials
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Has anyone ever participated in a Clinical Trial for fibromyalgia? I have been invited to participate in one locally but have never been in one or know of anyone else that has participated in one. Just wondering if they were worth doing to try and find help with pain management.

Hi ssalter20..venlafaxine75mg,,I was given it for my depression/generalised anxiety dissorder/panic disorder,, recently..I have just finished 75ml for two weeks today I have to start taking 150mg a day.i will say it has helped with the pain,,but now I think Iam ready for 150mg, as it does say may not workstraight away with depression etc, so on going upt to now il let you all no how it goes..so its making me think I may be wrong that it is connected to the brain chemicals too.Any advice appreciated..x

Hi ive just had call back from mac trials uk england, breif chat, was I would be given a drug, or a placebo, on 12 visits, for 2weeks, pregablin was mentioned, I said I was relustant to take that cause of weight gain,, she asked what I was taking, health probs besides fibro..I just wanted to ask lots of questions,, she said its in its last yr of research, fibro&it takes time.I have also started on a new drug called venlafaxine, xl 75mgfor 2 wks then 150mg there after,,I think it has helped with the pain upt to now, but it was for depression/anxiety dissorder.iam hoping this will not cause weight gain like pregablin, upt to now its thumbs up, iam still taking co-codamol30/500mg, for pain which iv been on for yrs but I feel like I dnt need to take as many, whilst on venlafaxine..but still having really hot flushes, especially in the night, iv been thinking could that be the menapause starting im 48?

Thank you ssalters20! I can't really keep a copy of the journal entrys everything is done electronically, but I do know one of the meds is lyrica and the other 3 are only numbers right now they have not received names yet. I'm not sure which one I will get and they won't tell me until the study is over, I'm just hoping for pain relief and maybe it will help other fibro warriors in the near future.
