I know its one of "those topics" and laws vary state to state(I'm in Oregon) but I've had multiple friends and family with fibro and other conditions that have said they are off 90% to all pills due to smoking, edibles, topicals, bath salts, and RSO. Does anyone use any of these for their treatment? How does it work for you?
Answer Summary
Members from legal and non-legal states shared their experiences with cannabis for fibromyalgia, with many reporting significant pain relief... Read more
"One of those topics"? Oh please tell me you are not serious. That makes me so sad. You need to get your read into a dispensary asap!!!! What are you waiting for? Good gracious, my friend. You are so lucky. Those of us living in states wo the freedom that you have access to are very jealous. I can not post whether I partake in this while the law is what it is where I live, but I will CERTAINLY voice my support of this miracle plant and all that it can do. Sativa, I think, is supposed to be the best strain for fibro sufferers. It quiets the noise that the pain causes, is what "I hear." :) Someone in the establishment you visit can help you though if you explain your situation.
So yes with fibro you will need different strains for different symptoms. Cbd helps fibro but it works much better with some thc in it. It takes some experimenting of what works for you but I've been able to find some perfect edibles for me to go to work every day and some flower to help me sleep through the night more often. I can't imagine life without it.
I use it myself for pain, though because I'm in a state where it's not legal I keep it to an absolute minimum, and only for days when the flare is so bad I just want to cry. But it DOES work. There's a lot of things to consider about it... being in a legal state you're very very very lucky considering that you can go to a shop and actually choose what strains you'd like to use (there are a lot of them and they all do different things).
I had for a little bit a cannabis oil that I would put into drinks. When you eat them they are slower acting and last longer. The high is also not the same...
As for sativa VS indica, the best thing for fibro is actually a mix. Sativa strains are more of a mental high and can actually cause some people to be hyper, where indica is more of a body high, and a strong one can lead to what's called "couch lock"... or basically you sit on the couch and stare into space. So you may have to experiment a little with which strain works best for you... I've found white widow effective when I could get a hold of a specific strain, but I suggest looking on the internet for various ideas, and trying various types.
How you take it too also depends on the results you're looking to get, Personally I use a vaporizer because when I use it I need it to act reasonably quickly, but a pipe or bong is too harsh on my throat and just leaves me coughing. Edibles, like I said, take longer to act (so when you start taking them, always start with a 1/4th of a dose, and wait about an hour before taking another 1/4th, same thing with the oils and tinctures)... a dispensary owner will likely be able to expand further, but personally, I find it very useful (and if the cops want to track me down and arrest me... they can bite my ass).
CBD Oil from Hemp is legal in all 50 states. Has anyone tried this? If so, did you get any relief from it? FibroToday had an article on it and a recommended site to purchase it from. Just wondering!!
The CBD Oil that is legal in all 50 states actually is made from HEMP. They say is works the same as the oil from Marijuana but has no THC in it. You can order it on-line. Like anything else, there are going to be better brands and more pure brands that work better than the cheaper less pure brands. Just like any other OTC products. FibroToday.com recommends Highlandpharms.com and they also get you a 20% discount with a code from their site. I have also heard that CharlottesWeb is reputable too. I have not tried either one yet, but I have ordered one of then and will be trying it soon.
There is also a synthetic called Nabilone; brand name Cesamet that is a legal prescription drug. Some doctors are prescribing it for Fibromyalgia. It is FDA approved for Cancer/Chemo patients with severe nausea.
