Has anyone tried The Candida diet or an anti-inflammatory diet (no sugars, most grain, dairy etc)? If so, what was your experience? Pain reduction, weight loss, etc.
Yes I've tried variations of both. I also was on the ketogenic diet which is 30gm of carbs per day, good fats like coconut oil, avocado, and protein. I felt great on that diet but I got tired of eating the same foods. If you can eliminate sugar, most carbs, that's a great start. I read the "Paleo Solution" which explained gut processes the best. My GI doc put me on the low FODMAP diet. Need to avoid eating certain foods that ferment in colon. I haven't had as much pain and no diarrhea.
Well, I've been doing so much reservation my migraine has a migraine! But I've eliminated some B.S. (quackery) AND found some great, evidence-based articles that do show a strong connection btwn Fibro & Candida (or anti-fungal) diets. I feel like I've gone back to college, but I just wasn't seeing any progress on Fibro treatments. When I get back to my computer, I will post some great, hopefull links.
I have had success with nutrition and supplements. Get tested for Candida I think it is the root of all evil. I would bet most fibro patients have Candida. There are several books out there.
I'm going to check out that diet. My down fall is sweets.
I used to get frequent vaginal yeast infections and bowel problems from taking monthly antibiotics for fertility purposes. The vaginal cream helped down there but for the bowels I saw a naturopath who gave me Tanalbit. I found online and purchased from Intensive Nutrition. I take 2 caps 3 times daily before meals. Stopped my diarrhea.
