I have asked Dr and specialist this question but have never really received an answer , it would be nice to know that there is some hope and a light at the end of this very long tunnel
My daughter is in remission at the moment but I never have been
I would say yes!!!! I didn't have fibro as bad as u it seems, but I do not have it now. I do have some shoulder and upper back pain, but it is not bad like before at all. I very slowly got better over the course of some years. I was treated for sleep first and foremost. The doctor told me as I started to sleep normally at night the muscles would heal themselves and the pain would gradually go away and that is what happened. When we don't sleep and go into the deep stage of sleep at night the muscles are not able to repair themselves. While having restorative sleep was one part of the puzzle, there were others. Like never use up all your energy..just 50 or 60 percent. Eliminate all wheat, gluten, instant food, chocolate, coffee( products with caffeine because it disturbs one's sleep), go organic and there are some other things to eliminate......and find out through trial and error about any food sensitivities ....then eliminate those foods...they cause inflammation and pain in our bodies....I also had injections of vitamin b 12 and IVs of low dose gamma globin...so you can see this is lots of work...but I don't have fibro pain now, I don't have brain fog ( eliminating foods helped this alot), I do have some short term memory problems and I am still taking something for sleep..but so, so much better....I have been better for some years.....I'm sure if I went back to eating the.foods that I am sensitive took, eating wheat and other grains with gluten, didn't eat organic foods, didn't take some medicine for sleep the fibro would come back...but I'm not going to do that!!!!
I recently found this book in the library and it is full of hope.....but also hard work too. Treating and beating fibromyalgia & Chronic Fatigue Syndrome by Dr Rodger Murphee....you can try some of the things he suggests.
The situation about the doctors saying fibro can not be cured is that they don't know how to treat it.and it took us years to develop these problems and so it takes time to heal. I don't know anyone who has gotten better through taking lots of medicine.......but I do know many.other patients got better with the treatment that I had and who followed my doctor....also in the book I mentioned many people's pain, fatigue etc were greatly reduced.
I also went to a Nutrapathic doctor and usually they understand and can treat fibro & Chronic Fatigue...this was also a big help, but it takes time.....but certainly worth it!!!.
I think prayer to God to lead you in the correct direction, and never give up is really important.....also not to think that a quick fix with medication could be the answer, because it doesnt seem to be whatever we try.....although some medicine can help us as we are on the road to gradual recovery...
I have not personally experienced this, but I do know a woman who's fibro went into remission for almost 4 years. It's active again now, though. I read somewhere that 20% of fibro patients recover. However, I do not remember where I read this, but I do keep this number in my head and I work mentally to convince myself that I am one of 20 percenters and that I will wake up one day cured. It gives me hope.
Thanks for all you answers, and ideas. It's good to know that there is always hope and always somthing new to try
