Members connected over the exhausting struggle of racing thoughts at night, a common symptom in fibromyalgia that many described as feeling like a hamster spinning on a thought wheel. Several members shared medications and strategies that have helped them finally get rest, including anti-anxiety medications like clonazepam or Xanax, natural remedies such as chamomile tea and valerian root, guided meditation videos on YouTube, breathing exercises, and in some cases adjusting pain medication timing to avoid interfering with sleep. A recurring theme was the intense dread and desperation that comes with chronic insomnia, balanced by hope found through counseling, relaxation techniques, and experimenting with different approaches until finding what works for each individual body.

I read about Somnapure on the Internet several months ago. They said it was the best natural medicine that had come out in a long time. I believe it came out over a year ago. I think it helps. You can get it online or at Walgreens, Walmart or CVS Pharmacy. Mine is mailed to me every month.

Yes I have these too. I usually read or do cross words until I am so exhausted that I finally fall asleep. I have also tryed breathing exercises to try to get to sleep. Felt rather stupid doing them ,but I have to say they really do work. Worth trying.

For years I took natural or remedies for sleep that worked quite well. Hops, chamomile, passion flower, and valerian is what most contain. These also help with anxiety. I used to drink chamomile tea in the evenings to relax and it worked very well. Just a heads up... if you tend to suffer with depression, valerian can make it worse so best pay attention to how you feel. Otherwise a very safe supplement.

I feel like there is a hamster spinning away at the thought wheel every night when I try to go to sleep. The doctor put me on anti anxiety meds and taking clonazepam does seem to slow things down a bit. I also try to practice relaxation techniques and will use them to try to focus on calm at night. Youtube has some guided meditation videos that might help you get started. I also try to avoid caffeine at night.but as winter gets closer I will "have to" have my hot chocolate on those really chilly nights... LOL!

Every night. Have been taking a small amount of Xanax 30 min before I want to turn the light off and I'm asleep, otherwise I get very little actual sleep
