The good news is they the is a medical code for Fibro now! It is M79.7. This will help expedite the process of applying and receiving social security or disability insurance. God has not abandoned us!

I applied for SSI and Disability in febuary. I have called and called and they keep telling me that it should go through soon, but i'm not counting on it. If you haven't already, after you apply they will send you to a dr for a physical exam and another dr for a psych exam. They have to wait for the results of these tests before they consider your case. I keep hoping mine comes soon. The good news is that they are supposed to back pay you from the date they received your initial paperwork, Mine is april 7th. So the first check should be a good one! lol. I hope this helps! hugs and prayers.

I should add, that I'm referring to SSDI, which is a bit different than SSI. On the 6th month after your last day of work is when they determine your date of disability. Idk how they figure this out for ssi.

Your disability date is determined 6 months after you stop working. So, I quit my job in May, therefore my benefits didn't go into effect until November. You have to stop working otherwise the judge will believe you are capable of working still. I too had to deplete my 401k. But now that I'm on Medicare, I understand that any assets or funds you have, will quickly get depleted because you won't qualify for "extra help" which gives financial assistance to low income and covers some prescription costs. I know it's a lot to learn and consider.
