So just wondering how many people have secondary fibro which happens due to other auto immune issues ? I have Primary Biliary Cholangitis, Sjogrens, Reynauds, hypothyroid, osteoarthritis. my doctor says that my fibro is because of all my other issues. Wondering how common that is.

Members responded to someone asking about secondary fibromyalgia caused by other autoimmune conditions, with many confirming they experience fibromyalgia alongside conditions like Hashimoto's, psoriatic arthritis, multiple sclerosis, Reynaud's, and osteoarthritis. Several members shared that their fibromyalgia emerged after specific triggers such as back surgery, traumatic events, or Epstein-Barr virus, though others noted their doctors had described fibromyalgia as a separate standalone condition. A recurring theme was the observation that many community members do have multiple overlapping conditions, leading to calls for more research into the connections between fibromyalgia and autoimmune disorders.

I have several health conditions, but all the health professionals I have seen have told me that fibromyalgia is a totally separate condition unrelated to any of the other conditions I suffer from. They did say that sleep disorders and fibromyalgia are related to one another. I think it is interesting that most of us do seem to have other conditions in addition to fibromyalgia. Perhaps more research needs to be done.

NOt heard of it as a secondary issue... but, alot of the other issues you have, are a lot of times because of having the fibro...

I have Hashimoto's and have been told the fibromyalgia is likely due, in part, from that. I have read it is very common to have wit with other autoimmune disorders. It is more a set of symptoms because of another health problem and yet separate at the same time...if that makes sense.
