Do you take either Lyrica or Gabapentin? If so, what are your thoughts? What mg do you take? I currently take Gabapentin but am thinking of switching to Lyrica.

Members shared mixed experiences with gabapentin and Lyrica for fibromyalgia pain, with many finding gabapentin helpful at varying doses (200mg to 900mg three times daily) despite common side effects like drowsiness, brain fog, dry mouth, and initial spaciness that typically improved over time. Several members reported that Lyrica caused significant weight gain and made them feel like a zombie, leading them to stop or avoid it, while others noted it helped with pain but came with similar side effects. A recurring theme was that everyone responds differently to medications, with members emphasizing the importance of monitoring side effects closely, adjusting dosages with their doctors, and weighing whether pain relief outweighs uncomfortable symptoms.

Yes, I tried this but reacted badly. One of the side effects, and we FM patients tend to experience them, is the inability to release urine from your bladder. It took a couple of months but my flow and abilty to release urine slowed then one day it stopped completely. It took several months to retrain my bladder and I had to cath myself during that period. My advice is to be aware of those body functions.

I have been on Neurontin for a year and a half, and I am only now after 17 years looking into the side effects of Neurontin and fibromyalgia, it seems that they both share in many of the same effects on the body , I tale 900 mgs but only have been at that dose for a 2 months . I don't take anything else for pain .

Guys have you tried the amitripoline. Doctors are now say that the trepiline is more effective with Fm patients . I am using it and feel great.

I took it years ago, but I have become so chemically sensitive that I would not touch it again.
