I recently admitted to myself that I need to start using a walker on wheels with a seat because walking is so painful and I feel like I have no energy in my legs. I chose the one with a seat so that I could take rest breaks and always have somewhere to sit.

Members openly shared their experiences using mobility aids like canes, walkers, rollators, and scooters for fibromyalgia-related pain, exhaustion, and balance issues, with many emphasizing that these tools allow them to conserve energy, avoid falls, and participate in activities they would otherwise have to skip. Several members described practical benefits, such as using a shopping cart or rollator for support during errands, choosing scooters for longer outings with family, and accepting that using aids beats missing out on life or spending days recovering from overexertion. A recurring theme was the emotional challenge of facing judgment or insensitive comments from others who don't understand invisible illness, met with community encouragement to prioritize personal well-being, reject guilt, and remember that no one owes strangers an explanation for the aids they need.

@A MyFibroTeam Member I understand, I worked as a Disability Consultant for years. I would have people say to me the guy down the block gets Disability and there nothing wrong wire him. I then reply to the person how do u know he doesn't have AIDS, Heart condition, Liver failure? Is he to put his problems in permanent marker on his forehead for the world to see? Pray for the Ignorant that's all we can do. U don't owe them any explanation, and only YOU can let them make you feel bad! Also remember Karma is a B_ _ _ h! Keep on caning along, YOU are not alone on FIBRO ISLAND.

I use a cane when I'm really having a painful day. I also have issues with coordination and have fallen quite a bit. The thing that bothers me more about using a cane on bad days are the comments that I get from the people that I work with. You look fine, It can't really be that bad. Your just trying to get attention aren't you. People can be so insensitive at times. I would not wish this illness on anyone.

I have a mobility scooter and a walking stick. The scooter is the best thing I have ever brought. It means that I can go out moor.
