Does anyone ever feel afraid of what is happening to their body - is this what they call being anxious? I don't like this feeling and find it hard to describe.

Members connected deeply over the anxiety and fear that comes with fibromyalgia, sharing how the unpredictability of symptoms, constant worry about falling or fainting, and feeling out of control of their own bodies creates a pervasive sense of dread that many hadn't anticipated when first diagnosed. Several members described practical steps they've taken or been encouraged to take, including being honest with doctors about anxiety symptoms, seeking counseling or medication for generalized anxiety disorder, and finding community support to counter feelings of isolation and being misunderstood. A recurring theme was the struggle to accept a diagnosis that doctors don't seem to take seriously enough, the disappointment that medications often don't work as hoped, and the painful adjustment of reconciling an energetic mind with a body that no longer cooperates.

Yes, I worry about this illness and how it is progressing every day! I have new symptoms all the time and it feels like I don't have control over my body anymore. I never know what will happen next and it is really scary. In the past year my feet and legs have gotten worse and worse. I see women on those motorized scooters in the mall and worry that it will be me soon. Never in a million years would I have predicted this! I also worry that the Dr.s are wrong and I have something more severe than Fibro that they haven't found yet. I find it hard to accept this diagnosis, and they don't seem to take it very seriously. They tell you that you have Fibro and write prescriptions that don't seem to work very well and have unpleasant side effects. They don't tell you what to expect or how to manage it. The whole experience has been anxiety inducing for sure.

Yes!, I'm so fearful that I won't go anywhere by myself and when I do I'm constantly afraid that I might feel ill and I'm alone, I hate taking showers cause what if, WHAT IF! I faint, trip, dizzy, can't get out of the car or can't get into the car cause of muscle stiffness, fibro sucks!

Yes.... I can't come to terms with it yet... It feels like it should be about someone else... Not me.... Why do I have to be in pain 24/7 for the rest of my
Life????
