I have an upcoming appointment for a mental health evaluation for application for medicaid.....what should I expect or do?
Be extremely honest with all your answers, cause this is for you despite of what anyone else thinks, does, or says. Let's us know your outcome.
Expect a potential grilling of your mental health issues, as well as your entire life, really. Well, at least for disability, that's what I got.
My depression diagnosis helped me to get Medicare & 'would think it would be the same for Medicaid.
There are days that I can't communicate well. I confuse words, don't put an intelligent sentence together, and can't remember words. Luckily I am retired so on the bad days, I try not to make any major decisions. There are many morning that I wake up nervous so I head straight for the xanax that I take every day anyway.
I have had this a couple times and just be yourself and be honest...that is all you can do. Sometimes the professional is good at their job and sometimes not. Once your evaluation is complete, make sure you get a copy so if there is any part you disagree with...do so with the help of your own drs.
