Members shared overwhelmingly negative experiences with Lyrica, with many reporting severe side effects that outweighed any pain relief, including extreme drowsiness (one member even fell asleep while driving), significant weight gain despite eating less, worsening pain, brain fog, and serious mood changes like suicidal thoughts. Several members found partial relief at lower doses but noted the medication's high cost and that insurance often won't cover it, leading many to switch to gabapentin as a more affordable alternative, though experiences with that drug were also mixed. A recurring theme was that fibromyalgia medications affect everyone differently, with some members choosing to stop all prescriptions in favor of natural remedies, diet changes, stress management, and spiritual practices, despite the difficult withdrawal symptoms that came with that decision.

I definitely think Lyrica reacts differently with every person. My Dad had a bad experience with it, yet I take 150mg twice a day along with Cymbalta, Norflex, Norco, and nortriptyline (plus a few more) and after the initial 2 weeks or so, I feel ok with it. NOTHING helps with the fatigue and like Matthew said, mornings are horrible! I also have gained weight (Cymbalta was my first drug, and I lost 30#) but I gained the 30+ some right back when I started on Lyrica. I also have been eating healthier and not as much, but can't seem to drop the weight. Hope this helps!

Lyrica made me feel dopey and sleepy - so much so that I fell asleep while driving and rear-ended a truck! Lucky for me and very unlucky for the truth driver he didn't have a driver's license and was arrested on the spot. Police made a deal with me that if I went to the local hospital they would not report the indecent to the DMV. I subsequently slept through the MRI! Too bad as I did find that Lyrica helped with my pain.

Great job. Have you tried some diet changes as well. I have come off four meds but have been replacing them with some homeopathic remedies and some Gamma by Now and a really good probiotic,no sugar, no dairy no wheat no coffee no alcohol no soy. I am juicing alkaline fruits and veggies to try to reach a Ph balance of seven. My first month was absolute hell. Cried, screamed, short tempered, frustrated. Angry. I tried to just let my emotions run amok and let go of everything that was bottled up and let it go. I swim 1/2 hour every other day, have a sauna and try to golf twice a week. I enrolled in a class on stress, a six week course on dealing with chronic illness, a twelve week course on dealing with anxiety and depression. Also taking a one hour meditation once a week. I have been making everything from scratch. Today because it's my birthday I had a piece of cake and ice cream. It was yummy.

I also joined a church and am doing some volunteer work with the children there. I spend a lot of time in prayer and being grateful for what I have. I have asked God to open my heart to heal and it has been incredible. He really does answer prayers if we listen for his answers.

The last few days have been my best since August 10 (that's when I started to come off the meds). I have actually had a few hours where I didn't think about how sick I feel. I feel at peace and I have hope. I believe there is a cure for Fibro and it includes ditching the toxic medicines and start to heal ourselves.
