Members shared their experiences with acupuncture for fibromyalgia, with several finding it genuinely helpful and noticing positive changes after just a few sessions, while acknowledging that results vary from person to person. Many members recommended giving it a try, especially with a practitioner who understands fibromyalgia, and some swear by weekly sessions as part of their long-term pain management routine. One member also described a related technique called dry needling, which uses acupuncture needles to release tight muscles and can be particularly effective for muscle tension, though it may not work as well for all symptoms like headaches.

Well that wasn't usual accupunture, but they did use the same needles. I had to sign a waiver that there's a possibility of a puntured lung. Which is why I was freaked out. I never tried regular accupunture, so let me know how it goes. I may need to look into it.

I have had trigger point needling or "dry needling" at Results Physiotherapy and at first I was freaked. They use accupunture needles but the stick them into your muscles. It causes your knotted up muscles to relax. I highly recommend it. I went back again and they even do it for headaches, so I said ok... Little did I know they do it to your head. This hurt bad, and it didn't help me much. But for tight muscles, it's wonderful.

I go once a week and after the 2nd time I noticed a change for the better. Everyone is different some might have had no relief and others swear by it. I think you should give it a shot. Try to find an acupuncturist who Is familiar with Fibromyalgia. I found one who's wife has fibro and he is very knowledgeable with alternative ways to help.
