Lately I've been having what I believe to be migraines. I've never had them until now. Is this associated with fibro?

Members confirmed that migraines are commonly associated with fibromyalgia, with many sharing they experienced migraines years before their fibro diagnosis or noticed them returning alongside worsening fibro symptoms. Several members recommended catching migraines early with over-the-counter options like Excedrin Migraine, Advil Migraine, or Tylenol with caffeine, while others shared that prescription medications such as Zomig, Imitrex, and Neurotriptan have been essential when OTC remedies fail. A recurring theme was the difficulty of managing frequent migraines, with some members getting 15 to 18 migraines per month, exploring options like Botox injections and nerve blocks, and emphasizing the importance of seeing a doctor if pain persists or worsens.

Yes. Ive had migraines for years. The only thing that works for me is Zomig . And i have tried everything . I get about 18 a month (migraines). Tried botox but only cut them down to 15 a month . I cannot live without my zomig.

I went in to pain management for neck, occipital neuralgia pain that turns into headaches daily then migraines. He thinks its Myofascial pain which is a chronic, painful condition that affects the fascia (connective tissue that covers the muscles). Myofascial pain syndrome might involve either a single muscle or a muscle group. Also thinks it's Fibro related. Wrote a script to physical therapy...like that'll help. Most of those therapists don't spend enough time with you because they are working on 10 people at once. Still in pain daily praying it doesn't turn into migraine.

Yes, migraines are associated with fibro...altho I was dx 9+ yrs b4 with migraines b4 fibro. Can try some OTC migraine meds like Excedrin Migraine, Advil Migraine, Tyl Migraine etc. But you want to take 1st thing you feel one coming on or meds will not be helpful. If nothing OTC works go see your MD there are several diff. meds your MD can prescribe et find one hopefully to work for you. Hope something works for you. Migraines as I'm sure you're learning aren't fun, but at least they eventually go away unlike fibro:( Many many hugs sent your way et God bless!!

Same with @A MyFibroTeam Member. I get migraines associated with my Fibro.
If I catch it early enough I can take 3 Tylenol w/caffeine and I get better. If I don't catch it in time I have to take Neurotriptan.
