Members strongly rejected the idea that fibromyalgia is caused by a B-12 deficiency, with many sharing that their B-12 levels were normal or even elevated despite having fibro, and that supplementing B-12 and other vitamins like D, calcium, and magnesium did not improve their symptoms. Several members emphasized that while maintaining healthy vitamin levels is important for overall health and can prevent worsening symptoms, there is no known single cause of fibromyalgia, and each person's experience with the condition is unique. A recurring theme was frustration with overly simplistic explanations for such a complex condition, alongside practical advice to get vitamin levels checked regularly and work with doctors on individualized supplement plans.

yes, I have heard B12, Vit D, magnesium etc. All those vitamins matter. Really?? None of my levels have been low except my Vit D this yr only by one pt. Otherwise all my levels have always been fine. I personally feel they do not know what causes this so they have to find something out there to blame it on. Don't get me wrong it is good idea to take Vitamins. I do every day. I take Vit D cuz of living in MN, calcium,
CoQ10, et a powdered drink that has all kinds of daily vitamins in it to help with energy. It is a good idea to have all your levels checked in case they are low. Cuz if things are low it doesn't help your body/fibro any either. Example having a low potassium level which I have had 2x in the last yr et critically low really wears your body down even more when you have fibro bad enough that it can kill you normally. So get them checked et take at least a daily vit. every day. It won't hurt you. Just talk with your doc 1st or ask pharm. so you know no drug interactions if you're any other medications. Hope that was of some help:) Have a good night et God bless.

I have never heard of B 12, which I took for a while and now that this question has been asked. I can't for the life of me remember why I am not taking it now. I also have had a very low Vitamin D deficiency. After 10 years I am just now reaching into the normal, which I believe has to be 30 or over. I was so low that I wasn't even on the chart as a positive, but was at a negative number. Plus my estrogen level was just the opposite. So high it was off the positive norm. I see my NP the middle of the month. I will ask her and get with you laddies.

it's caused by a lot of different things, but yes b12 can contribute. Most docs do recommend you take B12. and yes, have your levels checked.

I recently read that vitamin B-12 can help with depression, which sometimes goes with FM.
