Members shared their experiences with Cymbalta withdrawal after someone asked for tips on managing the next few weeks, with many emphasizing the importance of tapering very slowly rather than stopping abruptly to minimize difficult symptoms. Several members described withdrawal effects including brain zaps, tremors, nausea, mood swings, irritability, and feeling shaky, with some noting that even gradual tapering over months still resulted in rough symptoms for themselves or their partners. A recurring theme was the need for patience and self-care during the process, with one member finding that centering activities like knitting helped manage reactions and ease the emotional toll of withdrawal.

I didn't really taper or too long. I did go 30 (from 60) for a couple weeks and then I just quit. My hubby tapered for 4 months and still was very grouchy and short tempered for most of that time. He had the shakes, tremors, brain zaps, was sick to his stomach.

I couldn't deal with cymbalta anymore. Had to taper off and still had horrible side effects.

i've been on and off cymbalta for years, on now, 40mg a day just to be able to function, both depression-wise and fibro/post-surgery. if you can wean yourself, it's better; going cold-turkey sounds like the withdrawal symptoms above. having a hobby or passion to yourself if you can helps too, i knit and crochet until it hurts too much, but the centering helps me not take my symptoms out on anyone else, and eases my reactions to me. prayers friends, been there, its not easy.

I would ask to taper down gradually--40 mg, 30, 25, etc. My hubby made his own by dumping the capsuls out and reducing what each had in it.

It was not good for me either and the withdrawal was rough. I had taken it for a year. Felt (best description I can come up with) Bi Polar all the time.
