Members responding to a question about severe nerve pain overwhelmingly reported taking Gabapentin at doses ranging from 1200 to 2400 mg daily, often combined with antidepressants like Effexor, Venlafaxine, or Amitriptyline, and muscle relaxants like Flexeril or Robaxin, though many emphasized that these medications reduce pain rather than eliminate it entirely. Several members shared frustration about balancing effective pain management with daily functioning, noting that some medication combinations make it impossible to drive or work, forcing them to endure severe pain during their shifts. A recurring theme was the deeply personal trial-and-error nature of finding relief, with members describing symptoms like hypersensitive skin, tingling down the spine, and the need for heating pads, while expressing both hope in medications that help and disappointment when doctors seem uncertain or treatments prove too expensive or ineffective.

Yes i have poly peripheral neuropathy. I take zoloft, gabapentin (neurontin) and tramadol. I take trazadone at night. Without the meds I'm in severe pain. The meds help, don't eliminate it, but better with. Doc want s to switch me to lyrica but I'm holding off on that.

I'm taking 1500mg a day gabapentin. I can't tell that it helps. Also Effexor and flexeril.

Yes I get nerve pain and I am going back to my GP (I find him pretty rubbish) as paracetamol, ibuprofen, TENS & meditation is not affective. Chocolate helps for 5 mins.

I just began taking amitriptyline for my overly sensitive nerve pain, I have been on it for about 2 months and it seems to be helping so far.
