Asked my doc today about using it for pain relief. Last month I stopped taking Lyrica because of swelling and weight gain. Doc said she don't think I would benefit from it. Do any of you ?

It all depends on the strain. I recently tried it for 1st time. A blend that has lower thc and has some good cbd percentage say a 10% to 10% really helped me. Just thc indica helped to relax and i didnt like sativa without cbd. Too bad i cannot have where i live. Just when i go visiting.

@A MyFibroTeam Member Cymbalta is an antidepressant. If you're experiencing side effects consider Effexor which I've been taking for 14 years now. Lyrica is another class of drugs, an anticonvulsant and not comparable. It's similar to Neurontin (Gabapentin). Worked great for me except it caused weight gain and after 6 weeks it completely stopped working. My Doctor won't even prescribe it anymore because she thinks it doesn't work.

p.s. My doc said I was one of the only two patients that she considers it to be a beneficial treatment.

Since beginning a medivrn using medical marijuana tincture, I have eliminated all pain meds(even aspirin) My blood pressure is down to normal, I have lost weight (because I move more, I guess) and I sleep better now that I have the dosage and timing adjusted. I hate medications and believe in living as natural as possible. Cannabis really fits the bill for me and the only side effects have been positive. Studies indicate that it is actually much safer than most pharmaceuticals. You can't overdose for instance. This is the most beneficial treatment I have tried since my diagnosed in 2000 and I have tried many, often with bad side effects

Yes it helps a lot and I took lyrica for 9 months and I had to keep using my dose to get relief and it caused me to have pain in my feet so bad it hurt to walk. So I went and got my medical marjuana card it helps with sleep , mood, apatite, pain I honestly can say it is a God sent because I can't take pain meds of any kind without vomiting. I seen a dr just for the medical marjuana then once I had my card I was honest with all my Drs because the more they know the benefits the less stigma it will have and I have been surprised that some Drs believe it has a place in the medical world. With the pain we all feel it's worth A try considering it has little side effects. It's main stream medicines job to push pharmaceuticals it's a big business.

I've tried Savella and Lyrica. Lyrica made me put on 20 pounds which I've had difficulty losing. The rheumatologist said it was all in my head (the weight gain). I switched doctors.

Has stopping Lyrica helped you to stop gaining weight?

I'm in the process now. I have found its the only thing that helps without major side effects. My doctor is opposed though so that's a battle.
