Chest Pain
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Does anyone experience chest pain like your ribs hurt or sternum hurts? Or chest tightness? Or shortness of breath or hard to catch breath?

In January 2015 I had a bad cold which went to my chest and took two lots of antibiotics. I then seemed to have this heaviness in my chest in the centre or my right breast and seemed to get worse with exertion. I spoke to my GP about it and had an x-ray and blood tests. These came back fine. I was then sent for a treadmill test and because I got extremely out of breath and the pain in my chest was bad I was referred for a stress echo. My heart came back fine and strong. Still have the pains and heaviness in my chest and just deal with it as another symptom of my Fibro I think.

I will add that I did speak to my doctor adout my meds and made sure that I was not having any interaction issues and we agreed that my case was anxiety. - Carrie

My cardiologist has been trying to diagnose my heart issues for about a year now. We have come to the conclusion that the fibro is sparking nerves causing my body to release adrenaline at the wrong time making my heart race continuously. I can be sitting down doing nothing and my pulse will be 125 bpm..... this in turn makes my chest hurt, my ribs sore and the skin on my chest tender to the touch. You may consider seeing a cardiologist.

My anxiety issues came with the fibro. Actually, about two years into it. I am taking Viibryd and it is the best thing that has helped me calm down the constant everything that was going on in my mind. Worry, scared, angry, sad, and the pain on top of it all. My mind would get wound up in that and I would feel all of those symptoms you mentioned in my chest too. I feel like I sound like a basket case but it has not been easy. Now I can take a deep breath and see something for what it is even the pain and evaluate it in most cases and decide what I need to do. Four months ago was very different. I hope this helps . God bless. -Carrie
