Members shared their experiences navigating the overlap between Sjogren's syndrome and fibromyalgia, with many finding it challenging to distinguish where one condition ends and the other begins. Several members discussed practical treatments and medications, including Plaquenil (which requires annual eye exams to monitor for retinal issues but is generally considered safe), Evoxac for stimulating saliva production, and special mouth rinses for managing dry mouth and painful oral symptoms like clogged salivary glands, sores, and swelling. A recurring theme was the compounding effect of multiple autoimmune conditions, with members describing how Sjogren's intensifies pain and fatigue beyond fibromyalgia alone, yet many found hope in proper treatment and regular monitoring.

For me the Sjorgen's causes Slavia glands to clog and the come up almost like an abscess and until it actually burst is very painful. The fibro makes me so tired but the Sjorgen's makes the pain in my mouth so bad I can't sleep.

I have the exact same diagnosis ( lupus. Sjogrens and Fibro) and i have been taking Paquinil for about 4 years. I had my yearly eye exam two weeks ago and everything is fine.

@A MyFibroTeam Member I have been taking Plaquinil for quite some time. It has helped my joints hurting. Don't worry to much about the medication. It's pretty safe as long as she gets her eyes checked once a year or so. They can detect any problems with the Retina.
