Hi I was wondering if anybody else has had issues with their doctor. I think I may have fibro, I am on a lot of medication for cluster head aches, muscle pain and spasms, anti depressants, I sleep but it's not a great sleep, I get up and I'm shattered, I can hardly walk in the morning as my calves are so tight. I fall asleep during the day whenever I get the chance. I forget words, ones that I know and have known for years but they just go. I go as long as I can with the pain but I hit a brick… read more

Members rallied around someone struggling to get their doctor to take their chronic pain, fatigue, and cognitive symptoms seriously, with the resounding advice being to switch doctors until finding one who truly listens and understands fibromyalgia. Several members shared practical strategies including writing down all symptoms and medical history before appointments, asking for a referral to a rheumatologist who can perform the proper tender point exam and rule out overlapping conditions, and keeping a daily symptom journal to identify patterns and flare triggers. A recurring theme was the frustration of being dismissed or misdiagnosed for years before finally finding validation, with members emphasizing the importance of self-advocacy, persistence, and trusting your instincts when you know something is wrong with your body.

You don't necessarily need to be diagnosed by a Rheumotolgist. I was diagnosed by my worker's comp doctor which I had also decided for him to be my PCP too at the time. If a doctor is knowledgable about Fibromyalgia. I have never seen a Rheumotolgist and I have been diagnosed for 11 yrs now. Just thought I would put another perspective out there.

Also, it is very hard to get the right medications that help because of the idiots who have made pain medicene their drug of choice! I tried 10 different anti depressants and lyrica. Years of that crap. I now take flexeral, trazadone, lexapro, percocet and fentynol patches. These have been my meds now for years. Unfortunately they eventually don't work as well. I like hot tubs, hot showers, and massages help also.

Looking back I've had this a good 6 mths and it was a carer who suggested I might have it but my doc said it was just my osteoarthritis but I knew the pain was different
by chance I had to see another doc in practise who listened and kept prodding g different parts in the body that made me scream!!
he diagnosed it in 5 minutes
so my advice is get a fibro check list tick symptoms you have and visit another doctor
good luck
