Members responded to someone seeking alternatives to gabapentin and ibuprofen for fibromyalgia pain, with many sharing their own medication combinations including tramadol, pregabalin, flexeril, and topical lidocaine patches, while emphasizing the importance of finding the right dosage and timing. Several members strongly recommended seeking a pain management specialist rather than relying solely on a rheumatologist, sharing both positive experiences with pain doctors who took time to understand their needs and frustrating encounters with dismissive physicians. A recurring theme was the value of combining medications with lifestyle changes like movement, dietary adjustments, supplements such as turmeric and magnesium, and advocating fiercely for oneself when doctors don't take fibromyalgia pain seriously.

Marijuana is very wonderful. Edibles makes smoking obsolete (though I love it). My vaporizer is really helpful. Hardly no smell and doesn't get me as high. Seems to go right to pain. Its the only thing that gives me any sort of normal life. Though it isn't for everyone.

I didn't get anywhere with my rheumatologist! He gave up on me. I started seeing a pain management specialist which really worked for awhile. Unfortunately, she became ill and had to stop working, and I haven't found a new one yet.

I would definitely see a pain management doctor. Also...remember to keep your body moving so your muscles get activity and try to omit flour and sugar from your diet. All these things have really helped with my pain.

I'm sorry to hear your going through this. I'm taking gabpentin and tramadol. I use to take Lyrica and tried the other med they have out for fibro but I can't think of the name right now. If I were you I would go somewhere else or talk to your other Dr.
