Has anyone found other realities with Fibro? My grandmother was always considered a complainer, I remember her saying how her body ached all the time. When I worked in a nursing home I noticed some of the patients complained of the type of pain I had and yet there family's said " they have always been complainers". I wonder how many of the older generation we ignored.

Members shared powerful stories about suspected fibromyalgia in their own families, with many describing mothers, grandmothers, aunts, and cousins who were dismissed as complainers or hypochondriacs but likely suffered from undiagnosed fibromyalgia decades ago. Several members discussed recent research suggesting a genetic component that can be triggered by trauma, with many noting patterns of the condition appearing across multiple generations and even in their own children. A recurring theme was deep empathy for older generations whose pain was never validated, combined with concern for younger family members now showing symptoms, and gratitude that fibromyalgia is finally being recognized as a real and legitimate condition.

I guess the best study would be started 30 years ago. we don't know who had fibro as far back as 10 years. people that were "hyprocondriacs" were most likely 90% fybro

I think we all need to hear the validation of our pain and other symptoms as well. I think that sometimes, WE doubt ourselves. we need to have that validation.

My Mom used to always say she was in a lot of pain everyday. She still did everything herself and rarely complained. I think she had Fibromyalgia. They say it runs in families, my sister and I both have it.

I actually think my mom had fibro but they didn't know anything about it back then..As kids and even as a grown woman, I can remember my Dad tell us that" your m o m is having one of her spells today", which always meant she would be in bed all day. My one cousin has CFS...So maybe there is something about it being hereditary.

I have read a recent study (sorry can't site the source) that they have found a 'gene' that everyone has and it can be inherited. It is usually triggered by something traumatic. They are just finding more and more about fibromyalgia. I recently found out that arthritis and diabetes can be hereditary but doesn't have to be. My poor kids, the got a learning disability from their father, ADHD and OCD and depression from me. One daughter already has arthritis. I tell them, "Don't say I never gave you anything." lol
