Fibroids And Polyps, *warning* Might Be TMI
A MyFibroTeam Member asked a question 💭

Okay so have been for an ultrasound for my weird period and it turns out that I actually have a fibroid and what looks like a polyp. I have been bleeding extremely heavily for weeks at a time and now it's getting heavier and the huge clots areeven bigger. I'm worried because I'm losing so much blood. The doctor thinks it is not period just fresh blood from the polypand has referred me to have it investigated. Have you guys ever experienced this? If so what happened? Thanks

Most women end up with fibroids and they usually don't cause many problems. I had the polyp and my gyno cauterized it in the office. I had to have it done twice and the procedure was not painful at all. I went on my own and drove myself home but I would not do that again because when you stand after the procedure there is a feeling of pressure and it was uncomfortable driving but after a night of having my feet up I was good as new the next day. They did send it off but my gyno said they rarely turn out to be anything and mine was fine. And it stopped the bleeding.

I did not have polyps, but after having a hysterectomy over 30 years ago, they discovered that I had endometriosis. That was what was causing all of my bleeding issues. If you haven't been tested for that, it might be a good idea to ask about it. Wishing you the best.

@A MyFibroTeam Member, yeah you are way too young for it to be Menopause related, definitely get to a doctor as soon as you can, and remember to take some extra Iron and Vitamin D3 as bleeding so much will deplete those things in your body.

@A MyFibroTeam Member ouch! It's horrible isn't it? Yeah I think definitely see what your doc thinks, at the very least to put your mind at rest... Yeah I did read online that the bleeding is associated with menopause... (Which start freaking me out thinking I was having it early lol so I'm glad it's not that cos I'm 34 and very aware of my body clock! ) so it's likely your mom and sister are right I think:)

I have been bleeding extremely for about the last year, I have always been regular like clockwork and lately my period just comes when it wants to and I have been passing huge clots. It's been freaking me out too, but I'm 48 and after talking to my mom and my sister about it, they say it's a normal part of Menopause but I'm going to talk to my doctor about it when I see him next because I swear I don't have any blood left in my body and I'm still bleeding and passing clots like crazy.
